“Lance Steward (Studio 33, Berwick upon Tweed)
About nine years ago I was put onto Calico, after setting up my first website with their neighbours Spanglefish....and I had come to Spanglefish in Cromarty via a Dutch IT specialist giving a seminar in Argyll! An interesting and very productive route, and so glad that I went to that seminar in Inverary!
Kirsty, Evelyn and Karen have been voices of calm, patience and helpfulness over the phone since my first music-teaching website in 2011, via various projects for various purposes, to my two current sites, one for the professional photography which I did up to 2017, with the nice simple domain name "studio33.scot", which always breaks the ice and raises a smile. "Dot s-c-o-t-t" people ask me over the phone, even now....and I spread the word of Scottish domains. A new "lancestunes.co.uk" site is now being started as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, for the music and music lessons which now once again form my core business...I teach both sides of the Anglo-Scottish border, near the Tweed, so the uk suffix suits the site perfectly.
In such a challenging situation (20th March 2020), late on a Friday afternoon with so many things in melt-down and my income dropping to zero a few days earlier, in the time it took me to go for a short sanity-walk in the fresh air, Kirsty had set up the new domain and emailed me the clear, simple instructions for settings. In no time at all I was ready to start building a new site, so I could relax, knowing that the familiar set-up routine was in place. I immediately began recording YouTube tutorials to add life to some of the pages. So nice to do things with a blank page, no branding at all other than my usual minimalist visual style....and so easy to set something like this up when you have the backup of such a good service-provider....such a wonderful feeling of independence!
The professionalism of Kirsty and her team are exemplary. Anyone in business or setting up a website for whatever purpose would do well to call them and trust them to do a first-class job, day in, day out, year after year. Always the same calm and organised telephone manner, even when we are all under impossible pressures to make instant changes in our home and working lives. I started that first site with Spanglefish's excellent and simple interface, then learned HTML and CSS on the job, and now I can once again look forward to the future.
Kirsty and her team are offering full support while they work from home during this crisis....no-one could wish for a better and kinder service.
They epitomise the old slogan of being big enough to cope, but small enough to care.”
