Many of our customers use the WordPress content management system for their website designs. We asked customers if we could showcase and feature their sites and use of WordPress. Here's what Ruth Watson of the Keep Scotland the Brand campaign had to say:

Keep Scotland the Brand’ began over a bunch of carrots. Fresh, crisp Scottish carrots, grown on a farm just a few miles away, with a large banner across the packaging declaring them ‘British’, topped with a red, white, and blue flag. Flags never used to feature on our food.

Why does this matter?

Scotland’s name is synonymous with a premium quality product, recognised the world over. If we lose that brand recognition we lose tourists, we lose market share, we lose revenue, our economy will suffer. Our rural communities will be hit, hard.

Keep Scotland the Brand supports Scotland’s market share in a changing world, to support our food and drink industry, our tourism and hospitality sector, our tweed and textiles base, our distilleries, our reputation as a centre of excellence for engineering, IT, medical, and veterinary sciences, and the many entrepreneurs who keep Scotland’s economy moving.

Keep Scotland the Brand is a positive, inclusive campaign. You can speak out in support of Scotland’s farmers, fishermen, distillers, Scotland’s producers, Scotland’s economy: people who have worked successfully for decades to build up Scotland’s reputation as a quality brand which can be trusted.

Please contact supermarkets, retailers, and manufacturers asking them to support Scotland’s brand identity and not to hide the source of our goods under a homogeneous ‘British’ label and flag. Clear provenance does not require flag-waving, it requires prominent labeling. Clear, honest labels mean customers can make clear choices. Evidence repeatedly shows Scotland's name for quality is good for business. At home and abroad, it pays to #keepScotlandtheBrand.

Ruth uses the native Twenty Seventeen theme for the site. This is a great theme for business sites, with multiple sections on the front page as well as widgets, navigation and social menus, a logo, large images, and more.

She also uses the 'All Meta Tags' and 'Yoast SEO' plugins. All Meta Tags provides an easy and safe way to add custom meta tags to the WordPress website's head section. Yoast SEO is the number one WordPress SEO plugin and helps you get more visitors from Google and Bing, attract more visitors from social media and increase your readers’ engagement with the site.

Why not give WordPress a try? Simply call us on 01381 600580 or email support@cali.co.uk and we'll help get you started. We can also help with registration of a DotScot domain via our dedicated .scot site.
